چکیده

A language L over a finite alphabet Σ is called growth-sensitive if forbidding any set of subwords F yields a sublanguage LF whose exponential growth rate is smaller than that of L. It is shown that every ergodic unambiguous, nonlinear context-free language is growth-sensitive. “Ergodic” means for a context-free grammar and language that its dependency di-graph is strongly connected. The same result as above holds for the larger class of essentially ergodic context-free languages, and if growth is considered with respect to the ambiguity degrees, then the assumption of unambiguity may be dropped. The methods combine a construction of grammars for 2-block languages with a generating function technique regarding systems of algebraic equations.

Growth-sensitivity of context-free languages

A language L over a )nite alphabet is called growth-sensitive if forbidding any set of subwords F yields a sub-language L whose exponential growth rate is smaller than that of L. It is shown that every (essentially) ergodic non-linear context-free language of convergent type is growth-sensitive. “Ergodic” means that the dependency di-graph of the generating context-free grammar is strongly conn...

On $L_1$-weak ergodicity of nonhomogeneous continuous-time Markov‎ ‎processes

‎In the present paper we investigate the $L_1$-weak ergodicity of‎ ‎nonhomogeneous continuous-time Markov processes with general state‎ ‎spaces‎. ‎We provide a necessary and sufficient condition for such‎ ‎processes to satisfy the $L_1$-weak ergodicity‎. ‎Moreover‎, ‎we apply‎ ‎the obtained results to establish $L_1$-weak ergodicity of quadratic‎ ‎stochastic processes‎.

Random Grammars

This is the rst part in a series of papers, where we consider new connections between computer science and modern mathematical physics. Here we begin to study a class of "concrete" random processes covering most of well known processes, such as locally interacting processes, random fractals, random walks, queueing networks , random Turing machines, etc. Here we restrict ourselves to linear grap...

Studying impressive parameters on the performance of Persian probabilistic context free grammar parser

In linguistics, a tree bank is a parsed text corpus that annotates syntactic or semantic sentence structure. The exploitation of tree bank data has been important ever since the first large-scale tree bank, The Penn Treebank, was published. However, although originating in computational linguistics, the value of tree bank is becoming more widely appreciated in linguistics research as a whole. F...

Deciding Regularity of Hairpin Completions of Regular Languages in Polynomial Time

The hairpin completion is an operation on formal languages that has been inspired by the hairpin formation in DNA biochemistry and by DNA computing. In this paper we investigate the hairpin completion of regular languages. It is well known that hairpin completions of regular languages are linear context-free and not necessarily regular. As regularity of a (linear) context-free language is not d...
